Book Tour

#booktour

I have been wondering how to make this blog active as I haven't been able to travel in years. Then in a moment of duh! Why not do a book tour? There are many books where the setting takes place in New England. I could drive to some of these places and day trips. I tell ya, some times I can be such a dunce. So for those few who stumble by this blog there will be post soon (hopefully within a month).

Muscle Shoals, AL and Memphis TN 2010

Kitty O'Shea Sports Bar & Irish Pub

I have heard the name of this bar several times, mostly around St. Paddy's Day. I ended up getting a gift certificate to the bar. With my bad memory, I put it away and totally forgot about it. Doing some light cleaning I came across it. Only having a couple weeks before it expired I headed over there.
It was not what I expected from a restaurant in that area. They definitely need to renovate. There's a room to the right of the bar that has a coat rack against the wall. The main dining area has two televisions that plays of course, sports. One played the Celtics game and the other played the Red Sox. I'm guessing that in the winter one would play the Patroits while the other played the Bruins.
I did not sample much of the menu but what I did have I liked. The nachos are okay, I have had better and because of that I would order those from O'Sheas again. The burgers are OMG good. I did not ask but the next time I go back I will, the burgers seem to cook over either coals or wood. They were so yummy. For desert I had the cheesecake. Now this is going to sound insane but up until 2 weeks before I went to this bar I tasted my first piece of cheesecake and I liked it (in Katy Perry's singing voice). However, I do not like warm desserts. The cheesecake was warm and that just turned me off. I had a soda but my companion had a Guiness. I am not a beer drinker, in fact, I may have had around 3 my whole life. I took a sip of his Guiness and even a non-beer drinking like me tasted the difference. I would not order it as I prefer mixed drinks and wine but if you are a beer drinker you must try the Guiness.
All in all it is a nice place to try. I would definitively recommend the burgers. Their menu is on their website. You can visit the website by click the bar name up top under the picture. Enjoy!

I like this hotel. I have been to it a couple of times when I need a little get-away. I like to stay in rooms that have king size beds. This hotels has a nice comfortable mattress. They are not cheap with the pillows either (four sleeping pillows and two decorative ones). The bathrooms are clean. The best part for me about this hotel is that the room (or at least the rooms I have stayed in) has a nice size wall mounted flat screen television, it looked to be 32" or more.

This is a small hotel so there is no room service. The hotel is off of the highway so some rooms many be noisy for some but I wouldn't know. I grew up next to railroad tracks. When I say next to, I mean next to, the only thing that separated the house from the tracks was a one lane dirt road. Growing up in that type of noise I can sleep through just about anything.

This is not the hotel for you if you want to be in the heart of everything. There is actually nothing really around if you are not driving. I suggest that if you are going to stay here do so because you like the price ($90 a night), on a overnight/couple of days business trip or because you just want to get-away. There are restaurants around that delivers. There's a Blanchard's Wines and Spirits across the street if you're planning a romantic night.

I will update this post or do a completely new post when I go back to this hotel.

The room I stayed in was very similar to this one.
